Check with your rav about non kosher pets, because I remember hearing that there may be a problem about non kosher pets in a Jewish home. I don't know if this refers only to cats/dogs,etc... but if it also applies to birds and small pets such as hamsters, rabbits, and mice.

We had a hamster at home, but it was my sisters so when it came time to clean the cage she had to do it. She got about 3. One after one died and then no more.
Dogs and Cats are very high manitenance and cost a lot of money.
Congrats on your little girl being toilet trained.
