Last night I attended to this formal event. Many people I knew were there. I got dressed up in my best dress and heels. What was really embarrassing is that people were commenting on how young I look (You look 12, you look like a teen, etc.). I know to some this may be a good thing, but to me it isn't. I am still in my 20's and I would like to look my age. Besides my round face and pudgy cheeks that are making me look like a baby, the only wig I own is a band fall. And naturally, with a band fall, I must wear a headband making me look even younger.
One day, be'ezrat Hashem, I will be able to afford a full wig. But until then, I am turning to you ladies for advice. How would you wear/style a band fall without making it look so "youthful"?

What if you pull it in to a half pony? Then wear the simplest thinnest headband you can get away with. Preferably one that blends into the color of the wig. That way the whole band look will disappear a bit...

Also many women don't put layers or waves into their band falls, leaving them straight and simple. But giving it more a style will help too.
I feel for you - I stopped wearing my band fall for the same reason! Btw, now that I'm mid 30s my youthful appearance is much more appreciated. Though non frum people look at me with all my kids and wonder how I'm old enough to have a tween...teenage pregnancy...oy!
