If you give someone living out of the country (I.e. Israel) a present, would you be offended to receive an e-thank you card (obviously personalized ) ?
Obviously if we send via email will be much faster than figuring out ways to get them to US and get someone to mail them from there.
Also, via e-card we can do a picture or fancier graphics than if we would do by hand.

personally I think it's fine, but then again I'm not all that into "etiquette." I think it's the thought that counts.
I sent a wedding gift to my cousin in America, and she sent me a regular email thanking me - so an e-card is a step above that

I think it's offensive.
Someone from out of the country bothered to send a gift? THe recipient should bother to send a proper thank you note.
