Spelling is a combination of sounds and memory. The best thing you can do is to just quiz her on the words and have her sound things out until she knows the words. Spelling is important--especially with the advent of spell check and text-speech. No one knows how to spell anymore. It's sad.

Give her a spelling test on paper. The ones she gets wrong have her write a couple of times.

Have her notice patterns. Spelling is a lot of memorization of both words and rules, so look for both. Which words on the list follow the same pattern? How many words like that are there?
Use multiple modalities. Is she an aural learner, a visual learner, or a kinesthetic learner? Find a way to practice the words more in the system that works best for her (maybe by singing a song or making up rhymes for an aural learner; writing and looking at the list for a visual learner; and writing the words in shaving cream, different colored markers, magnetic alphabet letters, or her own body making the letters for a kinesthetic learner).
Practice every day. You can do one or two words in the car, during dinner, before bed, etc.
