I'm invited to a friend for shabbos day. I've never been to this particular friend for a meal before. I want to send something as a thanks. I'm feeling that a bottle of wine in under kill since we are a family of 6 (I have 4 kids). What's appropriate to send over for shabbos when bringing a whole family?

2 bottles of wine?
Seriously, though, it depends on how much money you want to spend. You can buy flowers or a platter of candy or a serving dish (platter, salad servers, etc).
Ask first so you don't duplicate something she already has, but you can also bring a fruit platter or dessert.

How about a nice candy and nut platter? That's always something people won't generally buy for themselves but always welcome.
