Any ideas? I can only spend up to $20 because money is really tight right now. DH has just been really wonderful and supportive lately in a difficult situation and I wanted to show my appreciation by buying him a small gift. (We usually don't buy each other anything.) I don't think anything judaica-themed would go over too well and also no food please. Eagerly awaiting your responses, thanks!

Go someplace like TJ Maxx or Marshalls. You can find all kinds of chachkes designed for men for under $20. Does he have an ipod? Maybe an accessory for it. Does he need a new wallet? a nice tie for Shabbos? a new Shabbos shirt? What is he interested in? Some kind of small accessory for his hobby would be nice.

Cute idea might be an initial buckle which shouldn't cost too much or perhaps a leather key holder.

My dh likes Hebrew poetry ( not religious, modern Israeli ) and mugs from museums with reproductions of paintings on them.

If there's something I know he's going to get anyway, I'll try to preempt it with a nicer one. I have cute taste which he would never choose for himself but appreciates it enough to enjoy when I get it for him - for example, if I know he needs a new notebook I would get him one with a fancy cover/binding. One year I knew he wanted a travel coffee mug, so I got one with pictures of our kids on it. Stuff like that. I think this year will be a nice laptop bag, slightly more expensive than I usually gift but he needs one anyway so he may as well have a nice one thanks to me!

When I have no clue what he needs either, then we're in trouble. But I am not above buying socks and wrapping them nicely with a card :p
