I am a believer in " a nice pair of heels can make any outfit" put on nice jewelry and gorgeous heels and you look elegant. Now I am expecting and I have these really painful varicose veins and Heels exacerbates the pain and burning. I have avoided getting dressed formally because I feel that I can't look elegant in flats- I feel homey and plain. I have a wedding coming up that I can't avoid- any advice. At first I was considering not going but my husband thought I was nuts and informed me that not having the right shoes was not a good enough excuse to miss a relatives wedding
Any advice? I feel that if I go in flat shoes I will be so self conscious a whole wedding and feel miserable

How about lower heels than you usually wear? Or wedges, which aren't so hard on the feet.

I don't think varicose veins are supposed to hurt. Maybe you should see your Dr. They make some really cute flats now, shop around or look for a wedge heel or a veeeeery long dress

I'm with you on heels making an outfit, but can you wear a long dress with flats so the shoes won't be seen?

While heels can make an outfit, an outfit can also make an outfit. : Wear something simple, dress it up with accessories. Wear something dressy, keep accessories simple. No?
I would not wear heels if I had varicose veins.

Maybe I'm missing something because I love wearing flats and because I live out of town, but what exactly is the problem wearing flats to a wedding? Does every woman wear heels to a wedding, that you would feel self-conscious there?
I am 9 mos. pregnant and at this stage have no patience for not being comfortable. You couldn't pay me to wear heels. Honestly, go to the wedding and enjoy. Most likely, nobody will notice what footwear you have on.

varicose veins do actually hurt. they are also influenced by the height of the heels, as it changes the position of the joints. when I first had varicose in the pregnancy I used to wear very flat boots and my ob said that it is not natural and it puts my joints in unfavorable position. so he said a little bit of a heel is good, but not too much.
I suggest you find elegant wedges, they are both comfy and appropriate for a simcha. Just make sure to try them on first to see how your veins feel in them.

If anything at wedding many flats and tiny heels bc of the dances! unless you're the type who dances barefoot
Anyway, if you're in pain it trumps all.

im voting for the support stockings too- my insurance fully covered 4 pairs- they look like regular opaque black tights and they really help with the pain and get a nice pair of wedges
