It's traditional to use the feather to push the 10 pieces onto the spoon, and then from the spoon u tip it into the paper bag.

I suppose the reason they are in every home in my neighborhood is that the house can be spotless and then you can just pull out the kit. I tell my husband every year they are a waste of money. I wouldn't be comfortable using a flashlight but everything else I agree with you.
