It was a tough topic to read about - it's harder to curl up with a novel about terrorism. That said, I think it's a valuable book. It sort of neatly encapsulates the feelings I had every time commentators feel the need to preface the word settlers with "crazy", every time politicians or media felt the need to maintain "balance", every time I watch a BBC report....

I also sometimes wonder if the books come across differently in English and in Hebrew. This was the first time I read one of Ragen's books in Hebrew FIRST...and I don't think I'm going to bother reading it in English. It's also the first time I read something of hers since I made aliyah, and it was freaky to identify every single place she mentioned all the way through. Ma'ale Sarah could have been any of the yishuvim I've visited and spent time on.
It was a bit different than some of her other books in terms of style...but it was a good read.
