oooh I made my daughter's dance teacher angry...
I purchased an undershirt for her dance outfit!
It has spagetti string straps, and if she would lean the wrong way it would have shown her entire chest!!! Talk about untznias!!!
Teacher said "couldn't u have gotten something not long sleeve."
me,"I could not find 3/4 sleeve"
teacher her eyes at me...
I do nto care, my daughter is 8 and a frum girl who wants to dance...

When I took dance classes like a million years ago my mother wouldn't let me wear the costumes either so my mother talked it into me that I was the star and had to wear something different to stand out me being so young I just said ok

LOL! I'm glad you were able to find a way for her to dance while still being tznius. I'm wondering how to handle similar situations with my DD. She loves to swim.

Meema, that sounds more challenging!
When I was in HS, I played on a sports team and I was the first girl in the history of the school (AFAIK) to play in a skirt. The next year a new girl on the team joined me, and from then on, as long as I kept track, there was always at least one girl on the team - or more! - playing in a skirt. I felt like not only had I accomplished s/t personal, but I had paved the way for others. Maybe your daughter will do the same, Mitzvahmom! Kol hakavod to you for sticking to your principles!

dd takes ice skating lessons. before we started I made it clear she couldn't be in the show. the costumes for one, but also the actual performance in front of men. its park district. cant girls have lessons but not the performance? b'h at this pk district, they have no problem, but with some places its part of the lessons

oy my poor daughter, B"H I do make her wear an under-shirt..
The tap outfit goes up to her neck, but as soon as it touched her skin she broke out in a rash I have to line that costume

There was a small time between ballet and tap.
I was shocked at how many mom's just let their daughter's run around in tights and nothing else!!!
My daughter looked at me and said mommy why, it does not look nice. Why are they letting them?
