For sure not before two.

IME a pillow won't stop them from moving around. I often find my 3 year old with his feet on the wall behind his pillow. My 5 year old gets really twisted in her sheets. They both use pillows.

Why two? Why not one? I thought that's when the sids risk virtually disappears.
Dd spent virtually her whole first year in my bed because she could only sleep with soft. Once we put a thin pillow and a thick blanket in the crib, she could sleep there.

I give my babies pillows at around 8-10 months.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, "Parents can safely start using pillows for children who are 1½ years old, about the same age at which parents can safely move children out of the crib and either into a toddler bed or onto a mattress on the floor."

Some people just move around a lot in their sleep, doesn't mean they're uncomfortable.
