There was a site called Hazon IRRC, that listed intentional Jewish communities. The last time I looked a number of their links were dead. Years ago they listed sites of folks involved in the Jewish farming movement. I've no idea what they are up to now.

Hi I live in the small Torah community of South Bend, IN and would love to respond to your request to learn more about more "rural or small" communities.
You posted:
Our criteria: We would like something affordable, -State Tuition Vouchers homes 3 bedroom homes ranging from 75k-150k, Kosher Store with all products needed
warm (the people, not necessarily the weather) Thank G-d amazing community with a vast range of Torah Families
spiritual- Both Orthodox Shul's have ongoing classes each weel
and without traffic- B"H average work commute is 10 minutes (traffic is a red light)
Are there any rural frum communities? We need a good Jewish school where the kids are kind and the prices reasonable(YEP got that), a mikvah (WE GOT THAT), and a welcoming shul(yeah for sure)
We are open to small communities (we have about 100 Torah Families and growing B"H) as we are both BTs (got those here too myself included) and became frum mainly because of Chabad.
If you want to learn more about the South Bend community check out www.cdisouthbend.com or e-mail the director Michall Goldman at michallgoldman@gmail.com or call her at 574-261-3051!

Hi. I live in cherry hill nj with DH and 2 children. We absolutely love it. The school here is Politz day school and my kids are very happy there. The community is wonderful and very accepting. Good luck!

I laughed when I saw Postville but the truth is that is TRULY a rural setting. Thee is ONE traffic light int he town and there is a mikvah, shul and yeshiva. You walk for five minutes and you are on a field with cows and corn and soybeans... THAT is really FARM country.
