I don't usually buy papaya, but I was tempted by the nice looking one I saw, and having read the health benefits.
What a shock! It's georgeous in and out, perfectly ripe, not moldy, but has a very strange smell. Does papaya smell strange to anyone else?

We I was I kid I called it the pukey fruity. When my parents would eat it I would make gagging noises. I have a papaya tree in my backyard and am always giving them away. Just the thought of them makes me...

all I know about papaya trees is that the fruit is only edible for the first year or two, after that the crop tastes awful, somehow. I still love papaya though!! But you have to get lucky to have a sweet one.
We had some papaya trees but they died...

I could never eat it as a kid, but my mother LOVES it. It really does smell like vomit. So weird....

Dh says it can smell weird, but if it smells really like vomit there could be a problem... taste it and tell us if it's still good?
