When I gave birth to my middle child, he was barely 6 lbs and I had pre-eclampsia so the doctors took him to the PICU unit.

B"H he was fully developed and calm and sweet... One of the things that touched me was, that one day I came to get him and there was a little hat on his head. Hand knit cute hat, and I said you know that's really beautiful thing that someone did.

As a result at every birthday I would bring X amount of hats to the PICU, at the hospital where he was born.

Unfortunately things went from bad to worse in my marriage and I had to get out of a horrible marriage. B"H things are better and stabilizing, and I have started knitting hats again.. My problem is, I am in a different state.

Here is my question, should I just mail them to the hospital he was born in? Or go to the local PICU and give it to them??

Local. The point isn't where it was (I don't think)...because most likely it was a private donation and not from that particular hospital.

I agree! The point is donating hats.
Also, I admire your strength- good for you!

Local, of course. Don't pay it back, pay it forward.
