Best pareve sub for butter in frosting recipe?

I want to make a pareve cake and want to know if there's any margarine that is better for "buttercream" frosting in terms of flavor, consistency, etc.

Any suggestions are great.

Bonus if anyone has a great recipe; otherwise, I will use one I find online.

Dont substitute shortening for butter. Gross!!

I try to use earth balance margarine, (it's expensive though) and I find that the best way to get good pareve frosting is to really beat it for a good several minutes to get a nice fluffy consistency.

I'd just go with the trans fat free margarine sticks and add lemon and pure vanilla to give it good flavor.

I do the same. I like coffee flavor. It masks the margarine taste.

Don't use shortening.

I like the earth balance sticks. I hardly use them but always keep a few in the freezer.
