Today I yelled at my kids to stop standing on the couch with their shoes on. The next thing I know, I'm up on the couch, with my shoes on, fixing the blinds on the window. I sheepishly slinked off the couch and thankfully my kids didn't notice.
What is something (or somethings) you do but tell (or yell at) your kids not to do?
OR
What is something your kids caught you doing that you don't let them do?

telling them
you get what you get and we dont be upset
not to eat while watching a movie
not eat nosh/chocolate/ice cream when its almost suppertime or instead of supper
not go to bed late
not to think about what others are thinking
not to eat/drink straight from the containor
not to compare to others
I've done all of those countless of times....

Me: Don't leave the milk/juice/seltzer outside, and put the cap back right away!
Me: Leaves juice outside uncapped.
Son: "Ma now you can't complain anymore when we leave the cap off."
Me: "Um, that's not true. I am also trying to remember, so when I remind you I also remind myself to remember."

I really like this line: "I am also trying to remember, so when I remind you I also remind myself to remember."

I enforce screen time restrictions with my kids. Then my own screen time started getting out of hand, and they noticed It was a good wake up call that I needed to rein in my own device usage. What could I do, except tell the kids you're right, ima also has trouble with screens. When I tell you to turn it off, I have to turn it off too.

Yelling at them not to yell.
Tensely and angrily telling them to calm down.
Not letting them read while eating and then doing just that every Shabbos morning (love my weekly Jewish newspapers )
Advising them not to be concerned with what others are thinking about them and certainly not to compare themselves to anyone else.
Admonishing them to mind their own business.
Expecting them to not be moody or cranky.
Telling them it's Ok to not be perfect, because nobody is, so stop being so darn hard on yourself.
Oh, the irony!
