What do you do with opened bags of rice, beans, pasta, chips, pretzels, crackers etc. etc.? Do I need containers for all these things or is there another way to get things organized so that my pantry doesn't look like a bunch of bags thrown together?

I keep a basket inside the cupboard that neatly fits opened packets of pasta, beans, barley and such. It keeps it tidy and it also means that when I'm looking for something in particular I can take the whole basket down and find it easily without messing the basket.
The snacks I do the same but in a separate basket (and separate cupboard).

I love Tupperware for my pantry. Not cheap, but worthwhile investment.

Bins, baskets, and containers!!!! Once everything has a designated place it's a breeze to keep it neat!

I use the disposable plastic containers , that are sold in the grocery store . They are really meant for food but I use them as they are much cheaper than Tupperware etc. if I have an open bag of barley, rice or beans etc, I just pour them into the containers and cover them, and they stack nicely.
Chips and Pretzel bags can be sealed with bag clips.
I don't like anything "open", to avoid any infestations etc.

I also keep baskets, plastic baskets and bins, a milk crate for specific canned goods, etc. -- as long as you don't have pests! My Mother has intermitent mice, so she has to keep in closed containers -- tins and Tupperware.
