Is Amram more of a sfardi name?
What are your thoughts about the name?

Dh name is Amrom (spells it with an o, though) When we were dating I thought it was weird but now so used to it! He's named after his great-grandfather and its a family name. So many of his cousins are also named Amrom. I don't think it's sefardi at all. The side of the family that he is named for is Heimish/ Hungarian. It's a nice name but not typical at all.

I know an ashkenaz little boy with the name.
It's a biblical name of a tzaddik who was the father of the two of the biggest leaders of the Jewish people. It also isn't super common so your son won't be one of 5 in his class which is exactly what I feel like a lot of people are often looking for.
Depends what you are looking for.
In terms of sound- I feel pretty neutral about it.
and no I don't have an amram and never really thought much about it except oh that's interesting that you don't usually hear that name.

And so are so many other names, like Avrohom, Yitschok, Yaakov, Mosha, Aaron, Yosef, Duvid...
I have a Amrom, and 5 grandsons Amrom. My siblings and my husband's siblings have a Amrom, except for the one who himself is Amrom. So let's count. I think you got the idea. I'm satmar Williamsburg.

I thought it was a cool name once and my husband nixed it, insisting that it sounded way too Sefardi. So whether it is or it isn't, it can be perceived that way.
But you could help everyone get past the perceptions! It's a beautiful name!

All Amroms I know are grandsons of Amrom Morgenstern. I also have a friend with a son named Ami not named after Morgenstern.
All of them are chasidish lol.
