Hi, does anyone have ideas for a vacation for my family?
A few specifics:
we would like not to spend so much money
we have 2 babies so cant do much
we live in Lakewood and don't want to travel far-I would say about 2-3 hours max.

Thanks!

What are you looking for in a vacation? Going to the mountains sounds like your best bet. Cooler weather, nice scenery, Kosher food.

Lancaster or the Poconos could work, or just do day trips to Philly if you want to save $. You could also do Baltimore/DC (DC activities are almost all free).

When I had a one baby this was a good 2 - 3 day baby vacation with little driving. Its not an exciting trip but was practical for us at the time.

started in Norwalk Connecticut:
Day 1 (or 2 days):
- Sheffield Island Lighthouse - you take a ferry to the lighthouse. We took a carriage on the ferry and there were walkways on the island. We brought a picnic. The lighthouse was not baby friendly - we used a baby carrier.
- Aquarium ( we did not go there but it is right next door to the ferry dock)

- There are many beaches along the CT coast. We went in the evening to one and had supper there and spent time on the sand. It was pretty empty - but maybe it was our luck.
ferry that we used

Day 2 or 3:
- Essex Train Ride - can combine with a ferry but we were nervous would be too hard with the carriage - not sure if it is a problem .
_ Instead of the ferry we took a car ferry to cross the area river. (maybe this: www.ct.gov/dot/cwp/view.asp?a=.....99780)
- Gilette castle. Very pretty grounds to walk around. Had picnic there. There is a tour of the castle - but the tour was not carriage friendly. We used a baby carrier.
