Hi- are there any heimish communities in Westchester? I’d love to hear from people living there the pros and cons of the community they are from.

And White Plains, and Mt. Kisco. And a small community in Mt. Vernon/Fleetwood.
But they're all "modern," nothing I'd call "heimish."

The religious neighborhoods have a few condos, but as far as I know, studios are almost impossible to find. These are affluent areas with large private houses.
The exception is Mount Kisco, which has both an MO community and the Nitra yeshiva. As far as I know, Nitra is the only right of center community in Westchester.

Isn’t kasho a very extreme insulated community?

Probably White Plains.
But if you want to be near Monsey, why not live on the other side of the Tappan Zee?

Probably work. Maybe she or her DH works for IBM. Or maybe she or her DH works at one of the local hospitals.
Traffic is bad, so it's not crazy to want to live in Westchester. Though I worked in Westchester for years and never thought seriously about moving there. I do not like Westchester.

Thanks for chiming in. May I ask what you dislike about Westchester?
Thank you

Thank you |
Bad microclimate, compared to NYC or further upstate or downstate. It rains so much. A colleague of mine called it "Wetchester". I used to get caught in downpours driving back from work. You know how usually you can pull over and wait a few minutes and the downpour stops? It usually didn't. I would have to drive a few miles through the downpour to get to a part of the road where it wasn't raining.
The snow was much worse than the rain.
Lots of electrical power outages due to snow / heavy rains / branches falling.
Combination of very expensive real estate and old, seedy, unsafe towns. Expensive houses are often not too far from unsafe areas.
Few kosher restaurants.
No good yeshivas for boys or girls.
Pluses of Westchester: It's very pretty and there's lots of good shopping at the malls. Not good enough reasons for me to move there.

Are there any right of center communities in New Rochelle?

No clue.
Check Zillow for White Plains, New Rochelle and Mt. Vernon. All should have studio apartments available within walking distance to shuls.
