Hard to say. The farmed salmon tends to be fattier and the wild salmon leaner (and the picture looks fattier) but there are exceptions. I usually buy wild king salmon which is almost as fatty as standard farmed. Can't go by the color either.

Impossible to tell from a picture and actually probably impossible to tell without DNA testing. When they've done DNA testing on fish, a shockingly high percentage of fish is mislabeled - and always mislabeled as the MORE expensive species :-)

According to this fisherman, Wild Salmon has NO fat and if we see fat its not Wid Salmon. I cant recall ever getting salmon that had no noticeable fat.

There is so much fraud in the food industry and if producers can make you pay more because they brand it wild salmon when it's actually farmed, it's a big temptation to do so.

I read that they can color farmed salmon to make it look like wild. Not to trust anyone basically. It's upsetting.

Price is usually a pretty good indicator. Wild salmon, especially if not previously frozen, is much more expensive than farmed salmon. So if you weren't paying $18-40/lb, it's probably not wild. Also, if you have been buying this fish all year long, then it is probably farmed. There is a season for wild salmon. Wild salmon is caught on its way upstream to lay eggs. It isn't available fresh all year long. Hope that helps.
