I would rather have classes in people's houses. Like playgroups are run. One child in the class can let her whole class learn in her basement or her dinning room and get free tuition.
There are playgroups here in Lakewood up to age 5. Each Morah has her own age she accepts. Why stop at age 5? It's probably also cheaper to run that way and less tuition.
Why isn't there a playgroup crisis?

A MUCH MUCH simpler solution is to open more schools. For everyone who cares SO much about the kids who did not get in to school yet... stop blaming and open a school or at least help to open a new school.... or help to build up the existing schools that are weaker and just need a good push to survive.

Not everyone has the funds or the ability to open a new school. And frankly, since people with strong connections and a lot of money are the ones most likely to get their kids into a school (in any place, not only Lakewood), you're expecting those least able to be able to do this.

Ensuring that every child has a solid education should be everyone's concern.

Question -- are the grades before 1st grade housed in the same building as the elementary school? If so, schools should consider moving them out (one school local to me hosted its kindergarten -- in the normal non-frum sense of it -- at a local shul until it was able to complete a new building) to open up classrooms for elementary school students. Its a stop-gap measure, but a start.

But the fact is that no one person can or should be expected to deal with these issues. The local religious infrastructure needs to deal with the issues of overdevelopment in terms of housing, and underdevelopment in terms of infrastructure.

Schools are opening up. 2 new schools opened up this year. it will take some time.
Its easier to open a school than to devide the day in half. Why is the building an issue? There is so much new construction in Lakewood. There is plenty of space. There just needs to be a person in charge of it. The same person that would be in charge of deviding the day and hiring new teachers can also be in charge of finding a place.

This. Flood the public schools with Jewish kids and they will have to accommodate everyone. Isn't this what they do in KJ?

Imagine if one daughter was on the first shift and second daughter was on the second. 🙈

And your boys on a totally different schedule. What type of job could one keep with the kids all over the place?
