Any ideas of: a small meaningful gift I can give her? A nice mother/ daughter outing to go on? A nice family activity? Any ideas for our last week together until she's off? Thanx.

Spending time with her, whatever you do, is a great gift. If she doesn't yet have a good overnight bag for going away for shabbos, get her one, and put in a note for her to find the first time she uses it.

Don't know her likes and personality but we made our daughter a big collage of pictures of the family to hang near her bed in seminary. She loved it very much.

Yes! I was so jealous of the kids that had that. Better yet, maybe make the collage together? You can get some scrapbooking supplies, so she has time with you and a momento. Then go out for lunch to cap it off.

It's possible she won't have room for a collage. Maybe you can put pictures and some basic supplies in a manila envelope with some extra cash earmarked for her to go to a crafts store.

A bit off topic. I wrote long letters to be read on the plane which my kids held onto. And mentioned to me years later. Sentimental sweet things, filled with brachas and dreams.

I think most girls do have room for a collage. It's pretty standard that seminary girls put up pictures on the wall next to their beds.

I think PinkFridge meant she might not have room in her luggage to travel with a collage.

Oh okay. That makes more sense.

Family pics on a pillowcase or a blanket is really cute. You can order from most photo places.

My mother wrote me a beautiful letter about how she was going 2 miss me, and what she valued about me. She wrote how happy she was for me, and that she was crying happy and sad tears 4 me. This was around 10 years ago. I found it when I got 2 my dorm the first time, when I was hit with a wave of panic that I would be in this place for 10 months and not see my family for awhile. I used 2 take it out because it made me feel like she was hugging me when I was homesick. When she was niftar, I became frantic cuz I couldnt find that letter, and Im still looking 4 it in my seminary books. I still appreciate that letter and think about how warm it made me feel, so many years later. Regardless of a present, please write a letter! It makes such a difference!
