For those who get a flame from a yarzheit light using a long (11 inch) match, where do you put the match to go out on its own? Do you cut down the match?

I drop it on the large tray I have my candles set up on, same as I would with a short match. But by the time my daughters and I finish lighting it isn't very long anymore anyhow.

I take it to the stainless kitchen sink and leave it in there. If there's a flare, it's contained and can be dealt with.

I generally use a wooden shishkebab skewer to transfer the flame rather than a match. I put it on the stovetop. My range has cast iron burners , and the vent hood fan catches the smoke when the flame goes out.

Did you know that you can transfer flame with a stick of spaghetti?
It goes out on it's own pretty quickly.

I hold it as straight up once I've finished lighting; the flame burns upwards and so it quickly runs out of fuel.
