Is the Candy Game an Israeli thing, or are other frum girls doing this too?

From what I can understand, middle school aged girls are going door to door. They give you a bag of candy, and they want you to give them a bag of candy in return.

I have no idea why. I now have a bag of gummy worms, which will make DD very happy. I gave the girls some chocolates from our Shabbos nosh bag. They seemed very happy about that..

Is the point to come out at the end of the night with more candy than when they started? Are they supposed to be trading up each time?

I mean, it's very cute and all, but... Scratching Head

The girls didn't speak much English, so it took me a while to figure out what was even going on! (at least they didn't say trick or treat) Wink

I just ran it by DD. (She was asleep when the girls came by.)

DD said "Oh yeah, my friend Rina said it's a thing around here."
