I used to be a member at Lucille Roberts. I paid $20/month for membership. I want to re-join now, but I see that their fee is double that - $40/month! It's not worth it to me for that price. Does anyone know of a women's-only gym in Flatbush that is closer to $20/month for a yearlong commitment?
I guess I could travel to Boro Park, but it would be a real pain in the neck.
Thanks.

Lucille upgraded all of their locations so that's probably why it costs more. See if your health insurance will pay for it. Mine does.
In Ye Olden Days, Lucille was only $8 a month if you paid up front for 2 years.

My insurance will only reimburse if I go (I believe) 50 times within 6 months. There's no way that's happening with my schedule right now:(

Thanks. I just called them, they're $50/month.

Is there an option there to pay a la carte per class you go to?

They have classes you can pay if you go, you don't have to be a member. I think I paid 13 for a yoga class.

That would end up more expensive than going to Lucille at $40/month. I'm hoping to go once a week.

You can go just to weigh yourself. You don't have to work out each time.

If I'm not going to work out, why would I schlep all the way just to weigh myself when I can just step on my scale at home?

I am assuming that chocolate was responding to my comment about my insurance reimbursing my gym fee only if I go 50 times within 6 months, and that is not happening. What she is saying is that I could go, sign in, and then weigh myself, without actually working out each time. However, that seems unethical to me, if not outright insurance fraud..
