It was my birthday recently, mid 40's and my dh asked me if I feel accomplished. I said no because what did I accomplish. He said, our children. He meant raising them, not actually having them. I'm torn about that. What do you think, would you call raising children (properly) an accomplishment and do you feel accomplished?

Yes, I think being a wife and mother is one of my biggest accomplishments. It has not always been easy, but it's very rewarding. It's the path Hashem has lead me on, and I do my best.

Getting married is a huge accomplishment. Giving birth is a huge accomplishment. Raising kids, no matter if you might think you didnt do a great job at that, is a huge accomplishment. Reaching 40 is a huge accomplishment. Why would you think that not??????

I think it is an accomplishment. It's one of the hardest things you'll do in life.

Oh yes. I have an accomplished career and I still think raising my children is my biggest accomplishment. I still some little ones, but seeing how my teens turned out, and the work that has gone into that, far surpasses anything else I have done.

Absolutely. Not that I think I can really claim too much of the credit for myself. There were so many others who played importat roles: my dh, my parents, my babysitters (I refuse to use the word "nanny". What am I, some inbred British aristocrat?), my dc schools...
But, yes, if you manage to bring up children who are normal, upstanding members of society, so that "Yourchild'sname's mother" elicits a smile rather than a shudder, you should feel accomplished.

No, I don’t feel accomplished raising children at all.
