My teens would like to go skiing. What places are closest to Brooklyn? Any discount coupons available? Do I must schedule a lesson first if this is their first time? Thanking you all in advance.

Closest is probably Mountain Creek in NJ, but it can get really crowded, especially on weekends. We've never gone there, but I think you may need to prebook to make sure you get your slot and your lessons. Also, midweek is much less crowded, but not all places offer lessons midweek.
Camelback in the Poconos and Hunter in the Catskills are quite popular and also very crowded. Belleayre in the Catskills or Montage near Scranton would be my recommendations for very family-friendly, beginner-friendly, not-too-crowded places to have a positive first experience.
