Hi all. Im trying to figure out how to light the fire for a pu-pu platter. Do I spill the contents or a store bought sterno into that center piece meant for the grilling? Or the whole sterno is supposed to fit in??

Also, im looking for a recipe for battered crispy oven fried onion!

Anyone any help?!

Do not spill the contents of the sterno into anything! Dangerous liquids.
If the full piece doesn't fit in the platter, then that's not the way intended to heat it.

I have pupu platters which I use often. I fill it with this blue gel made to put under burners. Just be careful how you handle it and dont overfill, fill it just about to the top.

You scoop out the gel from the sterno and put into the cast iron piece ?
