so I've been thinking as a born bred raised brooklynite [+ country hillbilly] ... the whys & why nots of loving or hating new york

#1 the minute you step onto the streets you say #$%^* holy crapola [or in the voice of gene wilder oy shEit] because nobody cleans up after their dogs

it's busy & nostalgic with lots of things to do & kosher places to dine + trains that take you almost anywhere

all your alleged friends are too busy to go out with you

the beach is so fabulous it's like free therapy, exercise, poetry writing, davening + good vibes ...

+ new yorker's are crazy enough they do FUN things like play ping pong with strangers in Bryant Park, the polar bear plunge on new year's day & fireworks every weekend in warmer months - on coney island anyways

people don't say "hi" "good shabbos" "how are you" in brooklyn even when they move to places like cleveland !!!

yeah but what about all those comedians who make jokes "raise your hand if you're from brooklyn - oh people watch your bags" ... it's only funny if you've never been robbed

& my latest venture for the city that never sleeps is yeah all my stuff got stolen when I went swimming & was dancing my circulation back on the boardwalk ... so no favorite olive green jacket or phone nor my new vegan lavender lip balm ~ yeah my walk back to mama was pretty damned cold even for a cold-blooded mermaid [guess I'll go back off the grid for a while]
