Check on Priceline. You may find some in the $100 range.

If you weren’t aware, some hotels are used for overflow housing for the overcrowded (men’s) shelters. It may not make a difference for you, but I was traveling alone with DS. I found a really great deal online this autumn for the financial district and that was the situation at the hotel.

Thanks for your reply. I didn’t understand your post. Do you mean that hotels have homeless people staying there and I should try to avoid this hotels?

She's saying to take this into consideration if you're uncomfortable with that.

Manhattan IS expensive. There is NO cheap hotel here. if you want cheap, stay in NJ, Brooklyn, or somewhere else that is a commute away.
Or look into an AirBnB type arrangement.

I'm trying to figure out the wording and pricing.
Visit NYC: Suite at 4-Star Hotel
Stay in a studio suite
Price based on up to four guests sharing a room
I know that with airbnb you can be renting a "room" in an apartment with shared common areas and facilities with strangers and I'm trying to figure out if this is the case here.

I understood that to mean that up to four in a group can share the room. Such as a couple and two children.

Is there a way to know if there are homeless people in a hotel?

4 star name brand hotels do not fill vacancies this way.
But some comfort inn type places may have such contracts with the city.

I booked mine through Priceline. And it wasn’t a low star run down place. Try calling the hotel at the direct number and politely asking.

They do. I stayed at a Marriott I think? It was not pleasant. Not into city hotels except for the high end ones (went once, on my wedding night:)

What about the 5 stars hotel. It’s as low as 150 a night.
