How much should a vacation to Israel cost of a family of 5? No family to stay with though a few friends for a possible Shabbat or two. What are best ways to save money? Thought about subletting an apartment and then doing day trips even if we need to stay in a hotel a couple of a times. Lots of flexibility!

If you are planning to rent a car, you can save a lot by staying outside the center of Jerusalem, where most tourists want to be. I don't know how old your kids are, but we've found that when vacationing, having a house or apartment rather than a hotel room is really wonderful.
