mercury plus my doctor said fish is a highly allergic food so I wasn’t sure.

We avoid tuna because of mercury contamination. I make patties out of canned salmon.

Light tuna doesn't have such an excessive amount of mercury that I would avoid it completely. I have no problem serving it on occasion. As far as allergies, there really isn't evidence that waiting longer to introduce a food prevents allergies. Some studies suggest the opposite.
