I am making pessach shopping list. (In UK)
I only want to buy one variety of each so...
-Which apples are best for apple sauce AND also to snack?
-Also which pear is good for compot and also as a snack?
-which potato are perfect for mash but also can hold their form in tshulent or in the oven?

Cortland apples are best for cooking. My kids like to snack on them too (I prefer red delicious for snacking).
Russet or Idaho potatoes are best for what you're looking for.

Yellow skin potatoes. They hold their shape, are good for snacking plain or with sour cream They are great in potato salad,latkes,fries, roasted in oven etc.
they might be a little more expensive and need a little more cooking time. But it’s worth it
