I'd serve it over crostini but you can buy any number of items

https://breadberry.com/#!/hb/m/000000/r/3426/he/Brooklyn/kosher-frozen/kosher-dough/ungers-tart-shells-12-3-89-oz

https://breadberry.com/#!/hb/m/000000/r/91068/he/Brooklyn/kosher-groceries/kosher-snacks/kosher-tortilla/del-campo-taco-shells-6-ct

I've seen ready wrap "bowls" at Gourmet Glatt and other such items.

Buy a long Italian bread. Slice 1/2" thick, on the diagonal. Season and toast. Store in airtight container.

Usually I do spray or brush with oil before seasoning, but if making in advance, don't use oil or it will get soggy.

Buy pre-made pie crust dough, thaw, and roll it out. Cut into circles the size that will fit into a cupcake tin. Carefully press into the tins, watching not to break the dough. If you do, patch the hole and press smooth.

Prick the bottom of the dough with a fork, and bake for 10 minutes. Add the liver and onions, and bake until the shells are toasty.

OR

Completely bake the shells on their own, and keep them in a sealed bag. Add filling just before serving.

I'm not a fan of liver, but this is a really cute way to serve chicken pot pie or a thick beef stew. Don't fill until just ready to serve, or the crusts will get soggy.

Roll out Leff pastry dough. Cut into squares and press into mini muffin tins. The corners look cute. Scoop some liver in just before serving.

In America they're called puff pastry shells.

I once did shells made out of bread. Wet a slice of bread (crusts trimmed). Press into muffin pans to form a cup. Bake on 350 till toasted. It was a delicious combo!
Another option- use precut pastry squares. Place one on a cookie sheet. Take another square and cut out the center leaving just a frame of dough. Put the frame on top of the whole square that's on the cookie sheet. Bake according to package directions (350? 400?). The frame will puff up creating a little cup where you put the liver into. It's more complicated to write it out than to actually make it. It's very elegant looking.
