My kids would love pizza, grilled cheese, mac & cheese, sandwiches, cereal every night rather than shmitzel, meatballs, meat sauce, fish...

Green, we were just chatting about this last night (your yesterday). My kids also complain about everything: they don't want fleishigs, they don't want leftovers from Shabbat, they don't want fish, they don't want casserole and guess what: I don't want to HEAR it.
So they can make pita pizzas, have an egg plain or egg-in-a-basket, cereal or oatmeal, pasta if I make it or one of them does, pancakes etc. They still complain but at least I didn't work hard nor did I spend money.
I think they would be happy to go out and eat every night, but we'll wait for the Mashiach to come till that happens.
The best thing is that we live in a Yishuv where prepared food is unavailable, besides pizza so there isn't too much they can nudge about to go and eat.
