I noticed that her thread was gone. Anyone know what happened to it? Did she respond back again?

She did, a few people responded, and it was deleted.

Yeah, I wanted to read it. I responded at the beginning and wanted to follow up on it later and it's gone.

I find it frightening and a bit communist-like that threads can be deleted just like that...

I don't think that threads with fights in them should be kept on, what's the point? The thread Tammy was quoting is also gone, although most of the remarks weren't directly singling out anyone, nor mentioning her by name.

Those who needed to read it saw Tammy's post when it was there. What are moderators for, if not for stepping in when necessary?

(I like being the resident literature expert, lol.)

1984 is a book by George Orwell...one major element of the book is that there is a whole section of the government dedicated to changing history as modern politics change to deny that things were ever different.

It's a (rude) reference to the book, implying that Imamother is run in such a way-with strict controls on what people can say, etc.

I was wondering what happened in 1984 ... remember the days when that was in the future ... how scary ... time flies

and I like that reference

I agree that it's an unfair comparison. Offensive posts need to be moderated, and sometimes deleted. However, there is plenty freedom of speech on here, and everyone gets to say their opinion.

We do NOT need to keep on posts that get personal against other posters, whether it's regular lashon hara, or lashon hara on those who may have spoken lashon hara, or anything of that sort.
