Amtrak train. Go to a city with good public transportation. Boston? It's on the water and there are lovely parks around. Might not be able to do Shabbos, though. Maybe Sunday-Monday or Tuesday?

Tons of options. there’s nowhere that trains and busses don’t go. What do you like to do?

Amtrak all the way. You could even get a sleeper car on Amtrak and have that be your getaway.

You could take a greyhound bus. No need for passport for domestic travel.

What sort of destination would you choose if you did have a car!

How about somewhere in Connecticut? Bridgeport is about 3 hours by train. Greenwich is even closer.

I am originally from Bridgeport and would not recommend it as you can't get around anywhere without a car. It's not just a matter of getting to the destination by train/bus, but also getting from the station to the hotel and wherever you go when you are there. Public transportation is not great and Ubers add up.

I would suggest going to a large city with good public transportation, like Boston or Washington DC.
