Looking for an interesting cake recipe that has two or more flavors or two or more textures incorporated into one cake, and is no-fail (user friendly), thats not made in a jelly roll pan.

This recipe was in the Yated a few years ago. Easy and delish!
Double Chocolate Crunch Bars
Cream together:
1 stick margarine
3/4 c. sugar
Add and Cream:
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 c. flour
1/4 t. baking powder
2 T. cocoa
(pinch salt-optional)
You will need for later:
Marshmallow fluff (about 1 c.)
6 oz. choc. chips, melted
1 c. peanut butter
1 c. Rice Krispies
Preheat oven to 350
Mix first 7 ingredients together. Spray 9x13 with Pam. Smooth batter for even layer.
Bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes. Test for doneness with a toothpick.
Let sit for 5 minutes.
Spread Marshmallow Fluff evenly over cake, while cake is still warm, not hot.
Place in freezer to harden a bit.
Melt choc. chips in double boiler. Add peanut butter. Mix until smooth and fully combined
Add 1 c. rice krispies ( a little more if very wet). Mix well, careful not to crush cereal.
Remove cake from freezer, spread crispy mixture evenly over top. After cooled, cut into squares.

Nah, just cut and paste. I've been trying to get all my recipes into a computer file. Not a big deal and since this is one of my favorite, I'm happy to share!

I've seen coffee marble cake. Would probably be awesome with a streusel crumb topping.

Thank you so much for posting this. I have made this and lost the recipe and my kids keep asking me to find " the party in your mouth cake" recipe.
I will surprise them for shabbos Chanukah with this cake and make their day.
Thank you again for posting it.

I love this chocolate crumb cake from dining in. I have made it for kiddushim and it looks really professional and tastes really good. It's a really yummy marble cake with a white crumb topping.
Chocolate Crumb Cake
Dining In
4 Cups Flour
2 Cups Sugar
2 Teaspoons Vanilla Extract
1 1/2 Sticks Margarine (I use 3/4 Cup Oil)
1/2 Cup Oil
4 Eggs
1 Cup Orange Juice
Pinch Cinnamon
4 Teaspoons Baking Powder mixed with 3 Teaspoons Flour
4 1/2 Tablespoons Oil
4 1/2 Tablespoons Boiling Water
4 1/2 Tablespoons Cocoa
1 1/2 Cups Confectioner's Sugar
Combine flour, sugar, vanilla, margarine, oil. Mix well. Remove 1 1/2 cups of the mixture and set aside for the crumb topping.
Add eggs, orange juice, cinnamon and baking powder-flour mixture. Pour into a 11x17 inch pan.
Combine the 4/12 tablespoons of oil, water, cocoa and confectioner's sugar, then mix into the batter in the pan to form a marble effect.
Sprinkle the reserved topping over the cake.
Bake on 350 for 45-60 minutes.

2015 thread.
Any no margarine, no marshmallow fluff, interesting multi-texture no-fail cake recipes?

Are cookie bars okay, or specifically a cake?

Great! I'm on my way to bed now, but will try to post some of my favorites in the morning. One tip - Oil can usually be used in place of most, if not all the margarine in a recipe. Use 7/8 c oil in place of a cup of margarine. For lower fat, sometimes unsweetened applesauce can fill in for up to half the oil.

Thanks!
Ive done both to make healthier versions of recipes, but I prefer hearing from someone that they did it and liked the results, in a specific recipe, bec its rare but it has failed.

Sorry it took so long. I just did this using oil, and it worked great!
Lemon Bars
Crust:
2 c. flour
1 c. margarine (7/8 c oil)
1/2 c sugar
mix, pat firmly into 9x13 pan, and bake at 350 for 25 minutes.
Filling - option 1:
4 eggs
1 1/4 c sugar
1/3 - 1/2 c lemon juice
1/4 c flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
mix well, pour over base, and bake for an additional 25 minutes.
Filling - option 2 (thicker, more lemony top layer)
4 c sugar
2/3 c potato starch
1/2 tsp salt
8 eggs
1 1/2 c lemon juice
mix dry ingrdients, add eggs and lemon juice, mix again. Pour over base and bake for 25-30 minutes.
either option - dust top of cake with powdered sugar when cool.

Google "dream bars" - they have a brownie layer and a chocolate chip cookie layer. Make sure to follow a recipe though instead of combining your own brownie and cookie recipes because the weights of the batters need to be right. BTDT.
