Sure! Heat up your favorite sauce and nestle the eggs into wells made in the bubbling sauce.

Just use marinara sauce that is loaded with all kinda cool veggies, mix with water. Bring to boil, put eggs in, cover.

I combine jarred marinara sauce with jarred salsa, in whatever ratio I'm in the mood for.

Trader Joe's starter kit. I haven't tried it yet, but people are raving about it.

I used to make it with all the veggies, tomato sauce and eggs.
We recently came across "Shakshuka sauce" which takes two secs to put up.
My dh really likes it.
Maybe give that a try.

I found marinara to be too thick and burnt easily, I'd add some thin regular canned sauce so it is more liquidy

how can I make this so that the eggs aren't runny? or is that the whole idea of shakshuka?

Yes the yolk is supposed to be runny.

I sautee onion and garlic , add cumin, chili powder, red pepper flakes, salt and paprika. Add part of a can of crushed tomatoes as the sauce let it all mix nicely together add the egg. I cover the pan with foil until the whites of the eggs are fully set.

I fry tomatoes and then add spices and then the eggs. It's yum!

I did similar over yt, with jalapeƱo, red peppers and feta. This thread is making me in the mood to make it again!

If you don't like it runny, cover the pan after you turn off the flame and let it sit until set.

I love it without sauce, just nestled into wells of sauteed chopped veggies.

I love shakshuka (in restaurants) but have a really hard time getting the eggs perfect. Putting pan in oven I think works. (long time since I have made it). I usually make it when I have some leftover tomato sauce from pasta or wtvr.

In Israel, you can buy the sauce in cans. It's really good. I like it with the yolks set, so they are lightly cooked and creamy (softer than hard boiled, but not runny.)
You can also buy an electric skillet that's made just for shakshuka, but just cooking it on low heat and covering the top of the pan will get the eggs to set. Really, and kind of electric skillet set on low would work, or you could make it in a pan and set it on a blech/plata. That would prevent the burning problem if you want to leave it on for a while when you have company over. You could even make it in a crock pot set on low with good results.
