My 10th vacuum cleaner (approximately!) in 21 years of marriage just broke.
I'm so tired of these semi-disposable appliances.
What do you recommend?
TIA!!!

Kenmore is strong but quite heavy.

I would consider myself somewhat of a vacuum snob. The Shark lift away does a good job. It’s easy for stairs and small spaces. I use the Dyson stick almost daily for quick clean ups but nothing more. I wasn’t a fan of the newer (higher end) Hoover or Electrolux. The Rainbow was amazing RIP. Miele is your best bet now.

I love my shark liftaway. I've had it for at least 2 years, possibly longer and use it once a week. It's lightweight and does a great job.

Shark Liftaway (we have the Navigator) as well -- just posted it on another thread. 5 years, nary a problem. Good filtering, great as upright or canister for stairs/car, etc My kids use it, not me -- it's that lightweight (I have tiny kids). Nothing to replace like bags or belts. Works well on hardwood floor and carpet.

Thank you!
I had the Miele for about 2 years, then it needed a $150 repair and I decided to trash it and get something for $80 at Home Depot....

While we're at it, would you please recommend a dust buster? I must have had at least 10 of those as well!!!

We like this. It has all the little vacuum type attachments for all sorts of little jobs. My kids use it to help me.

We've had problems with our dysons (big and stick) over the years but they always repair for free.
My mother recently bought a Miele, and is thrilled!

Was your model made in China?
There are Miele models made in Germany that are most likely better quality.

Miele.
Went through about 8 sharks in like four years and now have a Miele for the last year.

Bissell Crosswave (Vacuum+Wash) - I haven't tried it yet but heard rave reviews and on my wish list.
