If you are going as a guest..
I think I only went to one once and people were wearing shabbos clothing.
I was wearing nice every day.
What is appropriate to wear?

I think it depends on the relationship to the baal simcha or the star.
If you are the mom, the grandma you will dress up more fancy.
If you are an aunt then ask what the other aunts are wearing.
If you are just a guest, like its your neighbors einikel you might just wear simple more like better everyday.

When my sil made a pidyon haben for an einikel, she & her kids wore fancy clothes. I wore better everyday. A cardigan with a printed silk blouse
