I bought a house, the oven is 2003 Maytag gas range. Free standing. They must have not used it much. Good condition but now the igniter went just moved here a few weeks ago! Would replace or fix igniter?

If it's just the igniter, then yes. The older ovens work better.

Replacing an ignitor is an easy fix. If you like the oven, the old ones have less stuff that can go wrong.

It’s not a bad oven. A couple things annoy me. There’s no cook time in Shabbos mode so I can’t just keep on for a few hours Friday night. All the burners are the same size for some odd reason. Otherwise it’s a decent no frills oven

Vote for replace the igniter. I imagine you have enough expenses now that you don't need to invest immediately in the oven of your dreams.

Can u raise and lower OVEN temp with a knob? To me that's a huge advantage cuz then you can raise/lower temp on YomTov

You can fix it yourself, there is a how to video on you tube and order the part online.
Just make sure you take a picture of how things look before you take it apart, if its the top igniter it should take 30 minutes tops

And if it's the bottom igniter it should take about 5 minutes, tops. It costs about 50 dollars at the appliance parts store - bring in your old one they will match it for you.

Yes.
A new oven will also need new igniter eventually.
And based on what I’ve heard old ovens last much longer then newer ones.
If you or DH is handy you can 100% do yourself.

I did too!
Part was super cheap on ebay.
You tube videos are the best for this kind of things, not hard at all!!
