DH has done oven baked fries (from frozen) mixed with Pizza sauce and just adds sliced cheese, puts back in oven an extra 5 minutes to melt. Comes out pretty good, but not sure if this is what you mean?

So fry / bake the shoe string fries until crispy on outside, then top with sauce and cheese and bake until bubbly.

I’ve made it.
The kids love it.
Frozen French fries in a sprayed cookie sheet.
Drizzle marinara sauce and shredded cheese.
Bake until bubbly
