Of course homebirth midwives test for GBS. Maybe your friends don't even realize it bec. they aren't put through the humiliating process of having the doc put a swab up there, but rather put the swab there on their own and then the midwife sends it to the lab.
Midwives take every single precaution to protect their practice.
Maybe your friends don't act on the knowledge when they do have GBS, but that's a different story.

I always did the GBS swab myself. And I knew exactly what I was doing.
Maybe not every homebirth midwife tests for GBS. But please don't assume that those of us who swab ourselves are ignorant and have no idea what we're doing or why.

as a cure, perhaps yes. as a prevention, probably not

What?!?!? LOL LOL
I'd think it'd be the opposite. As a prevention, yes, as a cure - probably not, because vitamins are not usually cures.

I watched something recently that talked about GBS after an infant died from it, and that it is not tested for in the UK because financially it would cost the NHS a lot of money. It shocked me, since its so standard in the US and is so lifesaving.

It's most definitely 100% tested for a in London. I have been tested for it every pregnancy in London!!!

From Aug 2018

This is where I heard about the UK not testing. I am happy you were tested for it in London.
