Situation: The last night of Chanuka.
The rav and rebbetzin of the Chassidishe shul are making a chanuka party for all the english speakers in the community.
The party will be at someone's home.
8:30 in the evening.
It is a childrens free (besides nursing babies) evening.

Dilema:
What would you wear? What type of clothing? Formal? Simple? Describe the outfit you'd wear.

I would wear a really nice sweater and skirt with nicer shoes- like a friday night outfit.

I would wear a good everyday outfit - or rosh chodesh outfit....or older shabbos outfit.

I would never dress formal unless an invitation stated formal dress.

Keep in mind that the chassidishe community dresses more fancy than usual on a regular day, generally wearing suits on an every day shopping trip, etc...

(And I meant chasseedish, not lubavitch...)

I guess I can't relate. I've never put on a suit to go grocery shopping. Why not call the rebbetzin and ask her what the appropriate attire would be?

I would say something almost as nice as a shabbos outfit but not exactly a shabbos outfit and definitely not something you would wear out normally.

I would wear either a simple shabbos outfit, or a nice weekday outfit. Accessorize a bit as well. As long as it's not denim or very informal it's fine.
