Some chassidic yeshivos here in BP were dismissed very early today due to nittul but I haven't heard of girls' schools being off; certainly not yeshivish schools.

My kids were off for the fast. They sat home and brooded about what this day means. Not literally, but there was no fun entertainment. DD's school also sent home some reading material commemorating the Holocaust. I wouldn't feel comfortable treating the day like a vacation day.
