Freund's takeout in Brooklyn sells a delicious pareve cholent. It doesn't seem to have any potatoes or barley, just beans. I'd guess it also has sauteed onions. I'd like to prepare this kind of dish in my own kitchen. Does anyone know how they do it?

Saute onions in lots of oil. Add garlic, salt, pepper, paprika, ketchup mix & add beans. Cover with water & cook till ready.
A commercial cholent will always taste different as a home cooked.
