A wristlet isn't secure, I lost one as a teen walking holding a couple bags I didn't realize till I reached my destination and it was gone.

How do you get to your phone or money if you need them? I'd be really uncomfortable reaching under my skirt in public.
OP, she can hold it. (If she had a regular flat phone, I'd recommend a stick on pocket for cash and ID, but I don't think they work with flip phones.) Buy skirts with pockets. Or carry a bag -- purse, cross body, wristlet, fanny pack.

It's funny, my first reaction was she van figure it out on her own. But then I remembered how much this point stressed my mother out when I was a teen....
