Hi,
This may be an amateur baker's question, but I'm sure someone has the answer. I have never iced/frosted a cake before. I would like to make the cake the day before my son's party and put the icing on, but can it stay out or does it need to be refrigerated? Should I put the icing on the day of the party?
Thanks for your help.

if you ice it the day before, you should refrigerate it.
(or stick it outside. it's winter out there)
if it's kept warm..
the icing can melt....

Thanks for your replies. I have 2 Betty Crocker and Manischewitz. Leaving it outside may work, gigi, except the raccoons and skunks may get to it before my guests. If put in the fridge, will the cake still taste fresh?

actually, when a cake is iced, it is protected and can be left out overnight. the cake will not get stale, and unless its really hot, it shouldnt melt either.
I would just cover it lightly and leave it a safe spot from little childrens hands.
